The village of Korba

During the Punic era, Korba was already prosperous, developed its agriculture and architecture were highly advanced as evidenced by the ruins discovered in the region dating back to the Carthaginian era. Korba was also a direct road link with Carthage, the capital of the empire.

In Roman times, Korba, then known as the 'KURIBIS', was a center of Christianity in Africa and 257, the father CIPRION founded a monastery. One mosaic discovered in the vicinity of the city and representing CERES, is now in the Bardo Museum.
